Well looks like I did indeed get the part of Bill. Not what I was hoping for, but the show must go on etc. I am going to study Bill some more and then I will post an analysis and what I intend to do etc.

Today we read through Tennessee William's "The Long Goodbye". I find it to be delightfully weird and quirky. it deals with a man, Joe, and his dealing with his mother's death and his sister's personality changes (for the worse). the play incorporates flashbacks quite heavily and they start in a quite discreet fashion, which might confuse the audience, but i find it to be what makes the play interesting. the mood is quite mysterious, and at times dreary and even awkward. The character i liked most and would like to be in the play is Joe. i like the emotions he goes through and portrays, and i just think he has an interesting personality worth exploring. The play has not been cast yet, but i suspect Taylor will give the part of Joe to Nick CS, while giving me Bill, who is a character i do not like very much, but i will do the job to the best of my ability if i get the part. Silva, and italian MALE character, might also be made into a girl which i think is weird, but i guess we do not have enough male actors so it will have to be done. either way, i think this is a play that we will be able to do quite well.

today we basically just talked some more about theatre production, and read through plays. There were too many actors, so in basically all the plays we found there were not enough parts with enough lines for all the actors, so we didnt actually find a play. Mr. Sarstedt said he would find a play for us and cast it himself, so it'll all work out in the end. i want to be an actor, but i dont really mind to an incredible degree.
the class itself was not incredibly productive i guess, seeing as we didnt actually accomplish much in terms of finding a play, but i did learn what "strike" was, so i feel enlightened. we did call yosra, who was sick and it was quite a daunting task trying to get her to choose to be an actor, a designer, or a director. It took a long time, in which the roles had to be repeated and other such complications, but in the end she wanted to be a designer, i think. well thats all for today.
